It is also said to be the place where colonialism started in South Africa.

I will show you houses that were built by the Rhenish Church in 1835 to house freed slaves, we will explore the very quirky Om Sammies Winkel a typical trading store from the early 1900’s. Up Dorp Street, the oldest street in Stellenbosch, to the Theology College where the original Landrost building was built in 1682.

Back to the car after a coffee at one of the historical coffee shops. We would then drive through the University Campus and up and over Hells Hoogte Pass into the beautiful Franschhoek Valley.
Founded in the late 1600’s Franschhoek was the original area that was given to the French Huguenots, fleeing persecution in France, by the Dutch East India Company. Although French is not spoken their influence is still felt with the names of a number of the farms reflecting their French origin. Also a number of South African family names have their origin from these original settlers.
Franschhoek is home to some of the top coffee shops and restaurants, lunch will be at one of these eateries, depending on your budget and taste. You could enjoy a real fine dining experience or you could enjoy an eating experience at one of the many street cafes.

Full Day West Coast National Park Tour.
Between August and September of each year the Cape West Coast bursts into bloom with millions of spring flowers and thousands of visitors from all over the world flock to see this natural phenomena.
Our one day tour to the West Coast National Park is to visit the renowned Posberg Section of the park which is only opened from 1st August to 30th October each year to allow visitors to marvel at the colourful display and we will then go on to the quaint fishing village of Paternoster for lunch before slowly driving back to Cape Town.
It must be borne in mind that the possibility of seeing flowers at their best is very dependent on the weather and factors such as rain fall, when and how much, temperature (the flowers will only bloom when the temperature exceeds 15c), and sun light. The best viewing times are therefore between 10:00am and 15:00.
